How to connect a domain to your server Print

In this article, you will be learning how to connect your server with your custom domain from Namecheap.
What your server IP will look like after completing this tutorial:

Ex 1: play.yourserver.com (With Dedicated IP Addon)
Ex 2: play.yourserver.com:1234 (Without Dedicated IP Addon)

1. Log into Namecheap

2a. Head over to your account dashboard.

2b. Click the Manage button.

3. Go to the Advanced DNS tab.

4. Click the Add New Record button.

5a. Set the type to A Record.
5b. Set the Host to one word like "play" or "mc".
5c. Set the IP Address or Value to your server's IP (Not including the port)

Example: (Note: ​​​​the numbers for your IP Address will be different)
IP Address with port: 123.36.4.5:1234
IP Address without port: 123.36.4.5 (This is what you would put in the Value spot if that was your IP.)

The new host record should look something like this:

6. Click the Save All Changes button.
